A Rural Power Network For The Sierra

SPAN: Sierra Protection

Action Network

SPAN is an action-oriented, community-rooted network advancing leadership development, cross-sector collaboration, environmental protection, social equity, and local resilience.​​​

​

The Community Governance Partnership (CGP) launched SPAN in November 2023 to build a regional coalition across the 14 counties that comprise the Sierra Nevada region. 

​

Through place-based strategy and values-driven organizing, we continue to build community power— helping advocates strengthen a Sierra where local voices lead and communities thrive.

Mountaineous Landscape

CGP brings together grassroots, labor, environmental, and community groups to drive progressive change in rural Northern California and the Central Valley. To date, CGP has trained over 600 organizers, with more than 60 alumni leading local nonprofits or serving in local office.
